PATRIOTIC LOAF SOAP

Materials needed:
2 lb. Brick of clear, glycerin soap
White Star shape loaf insert
Blue and Red colorants
Choice of fragrance
Shapes & Bars Mold # 15154
Large Loaf Mold # 15153

Patriotic Soap

For this project, you'll also need a cheese grater!

Melt 4 cubes of clear soap and add about 20 drops of red colorant. Stir and pour this mixture into the rectangle loaf mold. Let cool completely, remove from mold and create shavings using the cheese grater. You can vary the sizes of the gratings by using the long or short side of the soap bar, the choice of hole sizes on the grater, and the length of your stroke. Repeat this process with 4 cubes of clear soap colored with about 20 drops of blue colorant.

Melt remaining clear soap and add fragrance as desired. Pour just enough to cover the bottom of the large loaf mold, wait a few minutes and position the star-shaped loaf insert into the mold. Sprinkle in the red and blue shavings filling as much space as you like. Carefully pour the remaining clear soap into the mold. Be sure that this soap is not too hot - just melted enough to pour easily! This will help prevent color bleeding from the shavings. Let cool completely, remove from mold and slice into ¾" bars.

EUCALYPTUS LEAF SOAP

Materials needed:
4 oz. Avocado/Cucumber Soap
1 tsp. Crushed Eucalyptus
2 pinches Green Color Powder
2 drops Stress Relief Fragrance
Flowers Mold

Eucalyptus Soap

Melt ½ oz. of soap and add green color powder, stirring until
completely dissolved. Pour this mixture into the leaf portion
of the mold. Let cool for just a few minutes, while melting the remaining soap. Add the eucalyptus and fragrance to the melted soap and pour into the mold. Let cool completely before removing from mold.

Beaded Reindeer Ornament

picture
This is a beautiful beaded ornament. This ornament would be beautiful tied on to a Christmas present and would become a present in itself. We suggest that this be for older teenagers and adults due to the use of hot glue.

This project is rated AVERAGE to do.

What You Need

  • Paper Mache Reindeer ornament, three dimensional
  • About 18 feet of small gold bead garland, depending on the size of your reindeer ornament. (This sounds like a lot of garland, but the beads are so small that you do need this much.)
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Gold glitter glue or paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Paper towels
  • Wax paper
  • Scissors
  • Gold ribbon

How To Make It

  1. Lay out a piece of wax paper.
  2. Using the hot glue gun, begin gluing the beads TIGHTLY around the reindeer. To do this, just wind the beads around and around the reindeer, putting drops of hot glue where needed. You may need to cut smaller pieces of the bead garland to wind separately around the legs, head, antlers, etc.
  3. Continue around the whole body of the reindeer until it is completely covered with the beads.
  4. Allow the glue to dry for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Squeeze a small amount of the gold glitter glue or paint onto another piece of wax paper.
  6. Use the paintbrush to paint the glitter onto the body of the reindeer. It may get in between some of the beads if you didn't wind the beads tightly enough. If you do get large clumps of the glitter in between the beads, use a toothpick to get them out.
  7. Use the paper towel to wipe some of the paint off of the body of the reindeer. You don't want a thick layer of glitter paint, you just want the body of the ornament to shimmer.
  8. Allow the ornament to dry on the wax paper.
  9. Cut a piece of ribbon to tie around the neck of the reindeer. If the ornament does not already have a ribbon to hang the ornament with, form a loop with the ribbon as well.
  10. Hang and enjoy!
